Bellevue, WA - February 10, 2017 - Higher Leaf Bellevue opened it’s doors last week on February 2, 2017 in the Eastgate neighborhood at 3079 156th Avenue SE.
Higher Leaf is pleased to report that the staff has had the chance to meet some of our wonderful new neighbors and customers who have been enthusiastic about the new business location in the Eastgate neighborhood.
Unfortunately, Higher Leaf hasn’t felt welcomed by everybody. On the second day of business, last Friday February 3rd, Higher Leaf’s manager, Gabe Jimenez, witnessed some very un-neighborly behavior from a customer who was waiting in the Starbucks drive through next door. A female driver was in the car and her young daughter (approximately seven years old) was in the passenger side. The young girl got out of the car, came onto Higher Leaf property, ripped out one of the grand opening signs, and threw it on the ground, while the driver was watching. The manager at Higher Leaf didn’t take any action, but was definitely rattled by the exchange. We certainly hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.
We know that marijuana sales are controversial nationwide, but Higher Leaf is a legal business in Washington State and has been approved to open for business by both the WA State Liquor and Cannabis Board and the City of Bellevue. Higher Leaf is also a proud member of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and looks forward to being a positive, contributing member to the business community of Bellevue. Higher Leaf’s other branch in Kirkland, has been opened and operating for two years and is the most popular retail marijuana store on the Eastside. Higher Leaf has been a proud member of the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce for two years and has always felt welcomed by the City of Kirkland. We hope to create the same wonderful relationships in Bellevue.
Higher Leaf is the first marijuana store to open in Bellevue since February 2015, despite a recent Bellevue City Council ordinance limiting marijuana retailers in the city. Higher Leaf is the fourth marijuana retailer to open in Bellevue and is now the closest store for drivers leaving Seattle on I-90 East via exit 11A.
