We always knew that our Higher Leaf family was awesome, but even we weren’t prepared for your generous and giving hearts during our Household Goods Donation Drive for Attain Housing! You honestly blew us away and helped a fantastic Kirkland area nonprofit that has been assisting homeless families to build strength and get a new start since 1989. Attain Housing’s mission is to bring our community together to partner with homeless families by providing affordable housing and empowering them with practical case management and hope. We are beyond thrilled to have partnered with them for this drive.
When Molly and Andy Honig opened their first pot shop in Kirkland, they knew their lives were about to change dramatically. However, two years later, some of those changes continue to surprise them. One thing that’s been huge has been a growing sense of responsibility to the community they call home.
It was all just supposed to be a fun story. In 2013, as Washington State began the process of legalizing cannabis for recreational use, it was announced that there would be a lottery for people interested in acquiring a license to sell recreational marijuana. A friend encouraged Molly Honig and her husband Andy to apply for the lottery. Neither of them had been involved in the legalization of medical marijuana or had even run a retail store before, but they figured someone was going to get those licenses. Why not them?
