Meet Your Budtender Series: Jake

To make this possible, we’ve hired some of the greatest people around to help find the perfect flower, edible, or pot paraphernalia for you. Meet Jacob, a budtender at our Kirkland location, with a little insider knowledge on what it’s like to work in the cannabis industry. He’s got a few hot tips served up with some of his favorite things in our stores right now.

How'd you find yourself at the best pot shop in Washington state?

I applied when I was moving out to Seattle. I joined the crew before the store even opened and had to learn the cannabis market quickly firsthand.

What's your favorite part of working in a pot shop?

I enjoy ordering paraphernalia and solving people's (employee or customer) problems. Oh, and product testing -- that part's awesome.

What's the funniest/weirdest question you've gotten from a customer?

I once had a customer ask me how processors "take out" the THC from medicinal marijuana. I tried to explain to her that they don't "take anything out" of bud that is used for medicinal purposes, it's just grown/bred differently and that it still includes THC.

What's your favorite flower? Why?

Cherry Pie, Granddaddy Purple, Alien Rift -- I aim for flowers that are relaxing and carefree.

What's your favorite edible?

Zoot Blast 30mg, affectionately dubbed "the Zoobie."

What's your favorite vendor right now?

At the moment, it's Heavenly Buds. Their flower is nicely grown, clean, trimmed well, and has good terpene content. Master Yoda has a great pine and cheese profile that has noticeable flavor while smoking.

What's your favorite thing to do for fun?

Reading or playing games on my computer.

What's your favorite product?

While not my "favorite" I have been most pleasantly surprised by newcomer Skord. Their buds and dabs look insane.

What’s the best thing about living near Kirkland?

The scenery is lovely, and it's one of the reasons I moved up here from hot, flat Florida. Mountains on every horizon. On a clear day, we can stare at a nice view of Mount Rainier.
