4 Ways Cannabis Is Changing the World

Here at Kirkland and Bellevue’s best pot shops, we are entirely personally convinced of the benefits of that good green weed. You may know that if you want to get high, sleep better, or ease aches and pains, cannabis can help with all that (and so much more!) But, what you may not realize is that cannabis can be a real force for good! Here are just a few of the ways pot is helping to make the world a better place.

Cannabis Creates Jobs

Everywhere cannabis has been legalized there’s demand for budtenders, owner/operators, and producer/processors. At our stores alone, we’re proud to have created over forty-five Kirkland and Bellevue jobs. And as legalization sweeps the country, tens of thousands of jobs have been created across multiple states. Just imagine how those numbers will continue to grow as states see the light and keep the legalization wave going. The world of cannabis is experiencing unprecedented growth, and it’s reported that it will be a 24 billion dollar industry by 2025.

Pot Taxes Fund Schools and Public Health Programs

States are receiving vast infusions of cash from the cannabis industry, and that money is going to help some of the most at-risk people in our community. In 2017 and 2018, the state of Washington expects to take in over $710 million in taxes, which are being funneled into a variety of different channels, including schools and public health programs.

Weed Reduces Crime

One big objection to legalization that’s heard over and over again is that crime will skyrocket. However, as legalization has played out across several states, studies have made clear that the exact opposite is happening. According to a status report from the Drug Policy Alliance, “Since 2012, the year I-502 passed, the violent crime rate has declined, and the overall crime rate has remained at a 40-year historic low.”

Making a Difference in Our Community

We love that the broader impact of cannabis across the country has been positive and we’re determined to make sure that those benefits are also felt locally. That’s why we partner with Attain Housing for another warm clothing drive. This winter, Attain wants to make sure everyone in our community is nice and toasty and is asking for donations of gently used coats, scarves, hats, socks, gloves, and blankets. Bring any items you’d like to donate to either of our Kirkland or Bellevue locations during January. We’re proud of our community and the huge support for the Attain Housing household good drive we finished in November. We love to focus on giving back to the community that has supported us since the day we opened our doors.

Help spread the cannabis love, stop on by our weed shops to stock up on supplies or to get a few more tips from our friendly budtenders. We have $5 grams every day and offer price matching on regularly priced items. We can’t wait to see you!
